Equity Mobilizing Partnerships in Community (EMPaCT) is a patient partnership model co-designed to center the voices of diverse community members and build capacity for equitable patient-oriented partnerships. EMPaCT is housed at the Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care (WIHV) at Women’s College Hospital (WCH) and is a recipient of the Engaging Multi-stakeholders for Patient Oriented research Wider Effects & Reach (EMPOWER) Award from the Ontario SPOR Support Unit (OSSU) as a scalable-model of equitable patient engagement. Members of EMPaCT consult, collaborate and identify key priority areas for action on health equity. Decision-makers such as healthcare researchers, healthcare providers and institutional leaderships bring their projects to EMPaCT for recommendations on how to make their project more inclusive and for advice on which changes to their proposed work can promote health equity for the communities involved.
